Do You Desire Riches?

December 6, 2007

Napoleon Hill, in His book “Think and Grow Rich” states that Desire simply means knowing what you want. You must have an intense desire for riches. Simply wishing will not bring riches.

There are 6 practical steps that you must follow so that you can transform a desire for riches into actual riches themselves.

Here’s the practical method by which DESIRE for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent:

FIRST Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount.

SECOND Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as “something for nothing.)

THIRD Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

FOURTH Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

FIFTH Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

SIXTH Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. AS YOU READ — SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY.

It is important that you follow the instructions described in these six steps. It is especially important that you observe, and follow the instructions in the sixth paragraph. You may complain that it is impossible for you to “see yourself in possession of money” before you actually have it.

Here is where a BURNING DESIRE will come to your aid. If you truly DESIRE money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it. The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that you CONVINCE yourself you will have it.

Only those who become “money conscious” ever accumulate great riches. “Money consciousness” means that the mind has become so thoroughly saturated with the DESIRE for money, that one can see one’s self already in possession of it.

    Greetings. :)

We do not know each other, but I came across your blog and thought to comment. :) If I may ask, do you agree with the views that the author of the book mentioned presents about money?

    Hebrews 13:5-6 (NIV) says this:
5Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
    “Never will I leave you;
    never will I forsake you.”
    6So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?”

    Likewise, 1Timothy 6:6-10 says:
6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Luke 16:13: 13″No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”

I find that the author’s views are in great contradiction with what the Bible says about money. What are your thoughts on this issue?

May God bless you, your family, and your ministry greatly. I hope that you have a wonderful day. :)

    In Christ,
    Candace

Thank you for your kind input. Everything in life must be balanced. However I do Agree with Napoleon Hill’s insights on desire and goal setting
